I am a first year undergraduate student at the University of Exeter studying Law. I was both shocked and thrilled at winning the Magnolia Incentive bursary as the financial prize means I won't have to work as much so I can concentrate on getting the best out of uni life and my studies. It feels utterly rewarding to be recognised as someone with the potential and was, for me, a fantastic prize for my hard work over my school and post 16 career. I am even more grateful to be presented with a mentor who, in my case, for law, can aid me in finding work placements and give general advise about my field of study. This is a priceless and highly valuable condition of winning the bursary. Mandy and Martin are both so supportive and I am honoured to be involved in this scheme; without people like them, many young students' effort and talents would go unnoticed. |
