Jamie Blundell – Jamie graduated from UWE with a 1st class degree in Psychology When I first heard of the MI, I felt instantly compelled to apply, and wished to meet the people who came up with this innovative idea. Why would someone wish to give students, a person they barely know, £5000 towards their degree?! I was among the first year of students to be selected for the MI. I feel very fortunate to have people like Mandy and Martin to talk to for inspiration. I am very proud, honoured and privileged to be a member of the MI. Well, I am in the process of applying for a visa for a one year English teaching position in South Korea, to commence 1st September of this year. I am taking a 100-hour online TEFL course, and am learning some Korean from some of the people I am working with. This will be my first time travelling outside of Europe, so I am hoping that the year will bring me lots of new experiences and broaden my understanding of Eastern Society. I am currently just coming to the end of my volunteering as a support worker in a community for adults with learning disabilities. I was having difficulty finding paid employment in the area of my degree, so thought it would be a good idea to gain some more experiences to consolidate the degree in Psychology I already have. I have been here for well over a year now (longer than my original 1 year contract!) because I have been gaining so much from the experience and generally having lots of fun after studying extremely hard for my degree!!! |
