Hello! I’m Glen Jankowski and I’m three days away from my final exam for my Psychology degree. Big, and scary stuff. Psychology has some pretty amazing implications, can change how you perceive the whole world around you, and occasionally, can make you want to rip your eyes out. Hopefully, in the autumn I will start a masters, with a view to working in clinical psychology, something I hope I will enjoy. This may sound straightforward enough but the process of doing a degree really wasn’t. At the end of my A levels, the night of my prom, the most life changing time period I have had as far, the Magnolia Incentive (MI) sponsored me. Its hard to say what the MI have done for me in a small paragraph, but I will try.
Knowing that a group of incredibly successful and able people wish for you to succeed in what you want to do, and are there to help you when things go pear shaped is an immeasurable source of help. The MI have given me the confidence, will power, and money I needed to finish. During my bi-weekly meltdown, surrounding thoughts of quitting my degree and becoming a fugitive, the fact that the MI are there to help me, that my sponsor is there to moan to, has kept me on track. The MI is a generous, insightful, and progressive charity that recognizes the importance of support for many young people and I, personally, am indebted to them. As silly as this might sound, thank you MI. I owe you one.....or two....or thousands.
