Martin attended Exmouth Community College from 1971 to 1978 completing A levels in Maths, Physics and Economics. After a short spell in the Royal Navy he moved on to study Astrophysics at Birmingham University spending almost as much time studying as playing Rugby and Basketball. On graduation he joined Arthur Andersen & Co where he trained as a Chartered Accountant qualifying in 1986 and then spending 7 years specialising in media and new businesses.
Since 1993 he has focussed his time on investing in and building new companies as a provider of early stage capital – the “Dragons Den” style of activities. Martin has made over 14 investments in this period and has been fortunate to realise significant value in several of these ventures. He continues to invest actively, provide financial support to several charities (most notably The Magnolia Incentive and Disability Snowsport (UK)), ski each winter and play the guitar very badly.
